Utility builder
Create MAME `.lay` and RetroArch `.cfg` exports with a live visual mockup.
Enter a screen size, choose portrait or landscape, switch on the artwork add-ins you want,
and this tool will sketch a basic layout preview with captions, generate a downloadable MAME .lay,
and create a RetroArch .cfg export with merged preview artwork.

What this panel does
The preview is the live visual check for your current layout, bezel placement, viewport fit, imported layout changes, and layer order before export.
Useful checks
Use Demo, zoom, and pan to inspect the screen area closely. Use Full Preview for the current visual output image and Full Demo for a fullscreen gameplay-style check.
In RetroArch mode, Touch Demo appears instead of Full Demo so you can test the active touch zones and see which button name is being triggered.
Left-click and drag moves the active preview element when that section is selected in the quick menu. When zoomed in, right-click and drag pans the preview so you can inspect another area without moving the artwork.
Imported files
When you import a .lay or .cfg, this preview updates immediately so you can adjust the reopened layout before exporting again.
Hi Score
Digit style note
Score digit style is for preview and export setup only. The dedicated hi score export can also save row folders and colours back into the Output panel.
If you choose Artwork, place digit files in a folder such as numbers using 0.png through 9.png plus time.png for timer separators.

What this panel does
This area shows the active export for the current mode. MAME modes show the generated .lay, imported layouts show the current imported XML with builder changes applied, and RetroArch mode shows the generated .cfg.
How to use it
Copy or download the active text export here. If you use Hi Score Save options, this panel updates with those saved row export settings before you download.
RetroArch imports keep unknown .cfg lines untouched, so builder-managed settings update while custom lines stay in place.
Preview files
Use Full Preview or Download Preview when you want to inspect or save the current visual output image.
In RetroArch mode, use Touch Demo here to test touchscreen zones instead of opening Full Demo.
This XML follows MAME layout structure and uses placeholder rectangles and text labels to show the chosen sections.
